Music Victoria is the not-for-profit contemporary music industry peak body for Victoria; an independent, non-partisan and non-government body established to support and represent the Victorian contemporary music industry across all genres.
The organisation is committed to increasing opportunities for legions of musicians, venues, industry workers and music lovers with initiatives such as access to the Virgin Australia and Qantas excess baggage allowances for musicians; regular professional development workshops; support for metro and regional venues to host live music; and critical research into issues such as underage gigs, preventative hearing health and Centrelink benefits.
Music Victoria is supported by leaders of the Victorian music industry including musicians such as Clare Bowditch, Sophia Brous, Deborah Conway, Paul Grabowsky, Paul Kelly, Dan Sultan and Mick Harvey; representatives of peak bodies such as Songlines, AIR, APRA and Multicultural Arts Victoria; as well as regional festival promoters, venue owners, community radio station managers and music lawyers.
