Next Wednesday 8 March is International Women's Day 2017. To help celebrate and promote the amazing women in music in Victoria, we've put together this handy gig guide for you all.

Rack off 2017

Rack off is YWCA's annual rock and roll fundraiser and International Women's Day. It's a two day party at the Tote, with photobooth, markets and much more. A celebration and showcase of the talents of women, GNB people and femmes and a chance for us to just have a great party!

Unity: International Women's Day Concert at Brunswick Town Hall

Brunswick Music Festival presents a special concert in honour of International Women’s Day, featuring an incredible line up of vocalists and spoken word artists including Kylie Auldist, Ajak Kwai, Emily Wurramara, Parvyn, Chelsea Wilson, Sahida Apsara and Janam Kaur.

MOTH (Music On The Hill) International Women's Day Show

Come to a celebratory evening of female musical talent featuring many artists that have played at MOTH over the last 12 months. Featuring Ella Hooper, Gretta Ray, Leah Senior, Ladychoir, Gena Rose Bruce, Charm of Finches, Jessie Lloyd and the Mission Songs Project, Heidi Luckhurst, Ling Marra and special guests. After the success of our 2016 IWD gig, we are moving the 2017 show to the theatre at the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre in Rosebud on the Friday before International Women’s Day. The MOTH International Women’s Day Show will be fund-raiser event and proceeds will go to The Luke Batty Foundation, music scholarships for local students and the MOTH equipment fund.

Creating Community for Diversity

This program is part of the City of Yarra overarching International Women’s Day series of events.
A panel discussion with some of delving into the issues of gender equality, identity and race and how each of these women have founded organisations that foster inclusive connection in the community – both in the world and online. Speakers include: Nkechi Anele, Chloe Turner and Eugenia Flynn.

PBS IWD Broadcast

On Wednesday March 8, PBS will bring you a special day of broadcasting for International Women’s Day, with an array of fantastic guest announcers and a killer live set. The Breakfast Spread kicks off IWD with a HUGE all-star line up of Josie Smart, Roj Amedi and Triana Hernandez co-hosting with Beth AQ in the studio, plus guests including Sarah Occhino, Hannah Donnelly, Parvyn Kaur Bennett, and Ajak Kwai. On The Afterglow, Lyndelle Wilkinson will host a fantastic IWD Studio 5 Live special with Melbourne noir-country crooners Broads.

PBS Presents: Mallard Movies - 'The Punk Singer'

Mallard Movies returns to The Spotted Mallard on International Women's Day, Wednesday March 8 with Erica Dunn (Mixing Up The Medicine) and Grace Kindellan (Wet Lips) presenting a FREE screening of The Punk Singer – the story of Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill and dance-punk trio Le Tigre.

3CR IWD All Day Broadcast

Celebrate International Women's Day on Wednesday 8 March as we bring you 24 hours of radio featuring the talent of women broadcasters that make up 3CR including transwomen, indigenous women, women of colour, queer women and women from different ages and abilities. This year we are celebrating with a special LIVE Wednesday Breakfast Show. Come down to the station at 21 Smith Street, Fitzroy, from 7 - 8.30am to be part of the live audience and to enjoy a light breakfast in the 3CR courtyard.
