Continuing the Conversation: Being a Better Ally in the Music Industry

March 10, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm UTC+11

Music Victoria presents a two-part workshop with Mental Health Clinician/Consultant, Bree Chapman Stewart. Register now.

Music Victoria presents a two-part workshop with Mental Health Clinician/Consultant Bree Chapman Stewart. The workshop aims to continue the conversation about sexual harassment, privilege, and power in the music industry. We welcome men, women, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folk to join us in this collective conversation

Why does this conversation matter?

Nationally the music industry is currently undertaking a review of sexual harm, sexual harassment and systemic discrimination in the contemporary Australian music industry, and making recommendations for reform.

Alongside such an undertaking, it is also important to unpack the mental health implications of such behaviour, and consider the emotional wellbeing of our entire community, regardless of gender.

We know that sexual harassment and sexism contribute to poor mental health outcomes and it’s time to change the narrative - permanently.

This conversation focuses on nurturing a curious mind, honouring collective anger, and unpacking the notion of both positive and toxic masculinity in our society to understand the root cause behind this universal issue.

Join us as we continue the conversation, and work towards true gender equality within the Victorian music community.

Session #1: 24/02/2022 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Session #2: 10/03/2022 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Register for BOTH sessions via Eventbrite. This event will take place via Zoom across two separate days, two weeks apart. We believe this conversation is immensely important, therefore we want to ensure people have time to reflect and unpack their learnings without feeling overwhelmed. We highly recommend attending both sessions.
