SUMMIT AND LIVE MUSIC PASSES ON SALE TODAY

The global music community will come together again on July 3 and 4 2019, when CHANGES returns for its second year at its new home of Abbotsford Convent.

A collaboration between The Push, Yarra City Council, Music Victoria, VMDO, APRA AMCOS and the Victorian music community – over two days, CHANGES will spark discussions and interrogate the current state of the international music industry across the realms of MUSIC, TECH, TALKS and IDEAS.

CHANGES IS COMING

Ahead of the full program announcement in June, today CHANGES announces the venues, live music showcase curators and Music Passport target country that will inform the direction of its 2019 event.

Melbourne’s flourishing music community takes centre stage across CHANGES’ live music program. This year, we’re training our focus on the heart of Fitzroy and again inviting curatorial partners to design showcases at neighbouring venues that border Johnston and Brunswick streets.

Today CHANGES can reveal 123 Agency, Anti Fade Records, Bad Apples Music, Barely Dressed Records, Chapter Music, Collective Artists, DOT DASH, Future Popes, Foreign Brothers + Soul Has No Tempo, Milk! Records, Music in Exile, New World Artists, Our Golden Friend, PS Music Group, Rice is Nice, Roolette Records, PBS + Triple R, Select Music and Still Here as its 2019 live music showcase curators. These creative local labels, agencies and music organisations will hand-pick artists that best represent what the city sounds like now, and what the future has in store. Expect to be adding showcase events from these curators to your schedule when the full CHANGES program is unveiled on 3 June.

On the evenings of 3 and 4 July, explore beloved local venues, including Laundry Bar, The Evelyn Hotel, The Old Bar, Bar Open, The Night Cat, Labour In Vain, The Shady Lady, The Stone Hotel and Perseverance. With all venues in walking distance, audiences will be able to immerse themselves in the sounds of contemporary Melbourne music on offer at CHANGES’ dedicated live music showcases.

Experts, industry leaders and storytellers from as far afield as Canada, France, the UK and USA will feature on the lineup for CHANGES’ summit. Additionally, CHANGES’ Music Passport program will once again welcome the international one key target country to Melbourne, where they can connect with established local music businesses and forge significant networks.

This year, tastemakers and groundbreakers from Brazil will bring ideas and game-changing conversations to CHANGES as part of the Music Passport program. Dedicated discussions with our Brazilian delegates have been designed to both benefit local industry and reveal opportunities for South American music businesses to make in-roads in Australia. CHANGES is able to showcase Melbourne as a vibrant live music capital as part of the Victorian Government’s $22.2 million Music Works industry development program.

MUSIC, TECH, TALK and IDEAS all come together under one umbrella: CHANGES. Two days: July 3 and 4, at Abbotsford Convent.
