Today, the Victorian Government announced a $20 million Live Music Restart package, which aims to support the return of live music.
Music venues will be supported with an $8 million program to recruit and train staff and invest in COVIDSafe infrastratructure.
Music festivals will receive $8 million to help recover from the impact of rescheduled and cancelled events.
$4 million will bring music performances to the CBD and inner-city, complementing a previously announced $5 million for regional and outer-suburban events.
Government subsidised event interruption insurance will insure up to $230 million of events, including creative festivals and community events, against cancellation due to public health measures, or where events have reduced capacity restrictions.
Event organisers with an ABN (including sole traders) will be eligible to apply through a simple online process. For ticketed events, the event organiser must have a refund policy in place for purchased tickets.
The COVID-19 Event Insurance was developed in response to industry feedback and the challenges faced by event organisers as a result of the pandemic.
