Trip 1 - Ballarat, Castlemaine, Bendigo and Echuca
The inaugural Victorian Music Crawl (‘VMC’),a Victorian Government initiative as part of Music Works, was delivered by Music Victoria on 16-18 February 2017.
The VMC is a trade mission-style outreach to the musical heart of regional Victoria. Part showcase, part educational opportunity and part exposure to local talent and industries, the program’s aims include to reconnect the metropolitan and local industries, build confidence in Victoria’s artists to tour the state, and document and reveal the great stories and potential for a healthy live scene across Victoria.
"It can feel like a lot of work to venture beyond Melbourne for live music when it’s already on your doorstep, but there’s value in stepping beyond the confines of comfort. There’s an entire world of live music in the so-called country, waiting for you to find it, and believe me when I say you’re going to love it." - Beat Magazine
"Victorian Music Crawl. The deal: Twenty-four heavy hitters and myself from the local music scene were invited on the Victorian Music Crawl last week. We trekked through Ballarat, Castlemaine, Bendigo and finished up at Riverboats Music Festival in Echuca. And it was non-stop glory days." - Herald Sun
"As the Music Victoria Regional Bus Crawl rolls into Ballarat we pass Apollo's Fish & Chips shop, where Nick Cave and Ballarat-raised Bad Seed Warren Ellis recently dined ahead of their local show at the North Gardens, where they wowed 5,000 revellers. Our first stop is Art Gallery Of Ballarat where musician bus-mates/'crawlers' Benny Walker, Dallas Frasca and Lachlan Davidson (Davidson Brothers) jam for the first time ever. Could this be a potential new supergroup? We're already excited." - The Music Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3
