The Thornbury Local was formally the Bender Bar. It is still owned and run by the same wacky Bianco brothers and their team, but will soon (early spring) have two levels, full kitchen, dining room and a balcony. The Thornbury Local is dedicated to live entertainment and fostering a 'come one, come all' mentality. Open-mic held on Wednesdays provide a chance to catch some of Melbourne's rising acts, be they musicians, poets or stand-up comedian's. The Thornbury Local can be a good spot for a quiet beer, a glass of wine and delicious meal or an ideal place to forget about work the next day and sink an Irishman's share of booze.
