Live Music for Flood Recovery

slide 2

The Victorian Government is set to deliver a series of live music events across flood-affected regions to reignite tourism and reunite communities.

Music Victoria’s portion of the total pool of funding will be dedicated to live music events in flood impacted areas.

The Live Music for Flood Recovery event series kicked off in Shepparton in December 2022, followed by a call-out to live music venues, artists, presenters and community members in flood impacted regions to propose events for their area.

Over the last year, 30 live music events at local venues for communities came together to revel in the joy of live music. These events were delivered across flood-impacted regions of Victoria including the townships of Tallarook (Taungurung Country), Pyramid Hill (Barapa Barapa Country), Boort (Dja Dja Wurrung Country), Newbridge (Dja Dja Warrung Country), Rochester (Taungurung Country), Bridgewater (Dja Dja Wurrung Country), Mooroopna (Yorta Yorta Country), Baringhup (Dja Dja Wurrung Country), Horsham (Wotjobaluk, Wergaia (Were-guy-ya), Jupagalk, Jaadwa and Jadawadjali Country), Euroa (Taungurung Country), and the Pyrenees (Dja Dja Wurrung Country).

The program supported events from Mystic Park (Wemba Wemba Country), Kerang (Wemba Wemba Country), North Wangaratta (Taungurung Country), Echuca (Yorta Yorta Country), Wedderburn, Boort and Cohuna (Dja Dja Wurrung Country) and Kerang (Wamba Wamba Country).

Local artists who performed included Imparja Petit, Elias Lanyon, The Remnantz, Jazy Jade, Amelia May, The Strangers Duo, Kitty Rae, The Colour Court and Greg Champion who each took to their respective stages to bring music to flood impacted communities. A special event in Seymour (Taungurung Country) saw Australian music legends Vika & Linda take to the stage, with support from local Kaitlyn Thomas.
