ABC Western Victoria
The ABC Western Victoria transmitter at Horsham, named 594 3WV, was built in the mid-30s and the station was officially opened in 1937 by the Postmaster-General, Senator the Hon. A J McLachlan.
3WV was originally intended as a strategic back-up to Melbourne's former 3LO (now 774) in case of war. Although Japanese bombs came nowhere near Victoria, 3WV did play a role, broadcasting coded messages at times during World War II.
