About

Bringing you a summer of live music, here in Ivanhoe.

For several months this year, Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub will be a place to catch performances by some fabulous artists from Australia’s contemporary live music scene.

In partnership with Music Victoria, we will be programming 2 bands for each event, featuring both emerging and established acts.

All are welcome to come and enjoy.

About the artists for this month

Katy Steele (solo)

With one of the most undeniable, ethereal, dramatic voices this side of Kate Bush, Katy Steele is returning to the stage in fine form, unveiling new music in a taste of what is to come from her forthcoming album. Delivering a string of intimate acoustic events across the country, Steele and good friend/music maestro Ben Witt will take new tunes on the road, with stripped-back previews of never-before-heard songs from her forthcoming album.

With almost 2 decades in the Australian music industry, Katy Steele continues to leave an impression with her profound songwriting and ethereal talent. Emerging at 19 years old as lead singer for ARIA-nominated outfit Little Birdy, Steele went on to release 3 studio albums with the band including BigBigLove, Hollywood and Confetti.

An established career drenched in highlights, Katy Steele is now carving out the next chapter of her already incredible career.

Chitra

With her bold, alluring indie-rock music, Melbourne singer-songwriter Chitra Ridwan navigates the pressures and anxieties of relationships with the grace and skill of a dancer. Raised on the Bellarine Peninsula, Chitra found her calling in music early on, realising it was the world in which she felt safest and most seen.

Drawing from influences such as Big Thief's Adrienne Lenker and Julia Jacklin, and channelling the no-holds-barred honesty of classic 90s indie songwriters, it was a sharply-realised debut that announced Chitra as one of Melbourne's most talented songwriters.

Described as a 'bold and affecting' songwriter by Triple J's Declan Byrne, Chitra quickly won praise and adulation from tastemakers including Triple R, Pilerats and Fbi Radio, as well as support slots alongside artists like Lisa Mitchell, Vacations and Jaguar Jonze. Later this year, Chitra will release her anticipated debut album, produced by John Castle (Cub Sport, Hatchie, Angie McMahon).
