Nominate Yourself for the Music Victoria Board

The Music Victoria Board plays a critical leadership role, providing governance and strategic oversight for the organisation. Governance encompasses the direction, control, and accountability of Music Victoria and is distinct from management, which oversees day-to-day operations.

Our Board includes representatives from leading national and Victorian music bodies, alongside artists, legal, planning, and policy specialists, and experienced managers. Details of current Board members are available here.

The Board’s authority is defined in the Rules of Association and its responsibilities include:

  • Setting strategic direction, goals, and organisational priorities
  • Monitoring performance and compliance with legal and strategic objectives
  • Overseeing risk management and financial sustainability
  • Recruiting, supporting, and overseeing the Chief Executive Officer
  • Making decisions on member disciplinary matters
  • Reporting to members and stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal obligations, including maintaining charitable status
As Music Victoria continues to evolve, the Board aims to better reflect both our music community and society more broadly. We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTIQA+ community.
For 2025, we are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in:
  • Human Resources and Peoples & Culture
  • Risk, Governance and Legal
  • Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorship

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended the Special General Meeting on 22 October. We’re pleased to confirm that members voted in favour of the proposed amendments to Music Victoria’s Rules of Association.

The Board of Directors will now consist of five (5) elected positions and five (5) appointed positions and only paid (financial) members will be able to vote at the AGM. At the upcoming AGM, one (1) Board position will be open for election and, following the AGM, there will be three (3) positions appointed by the new Board based on the skills, experience and diversity required.
